Policy

Sanitation and Hygiene Policy:

Therapists:

  • Will ensure that all equipment and linens are sanitised regularly and between each treatment.

  • Before and after each massage your therapist will wash hands and forearms thoroughly with warm soapy water, rinsed and dried.

  • Any breaks in the skin will be covered by a protective dressing and gloved during treatment.

  • Maintain good personal hygiene and grooming standards.

  • Disclose any illness and take time off when unwell


Clients:

  • Uphold good personal hygiene and attend treatments clean and deodorised.

  • Inform the therapist of any breaks in the skin or rashes. These areas will need to be covered where possible and avoided.

  • Cancel the session in unwell or your suspect you may be coming down with an illness.

  • Do not attend a treatment under the influence of any drugs or alcohol unless prescribed by a practicing medical doctor.


Maintaining this policy is imperative for the health and safety of not only the client and therapists but also the wider community. Many different people attend this treatment space and some are of increased vulnerability due to things such as pregnancy, chronic illness, the immune suppressed and the elderly.

If a client is not willing or able to uphold the above mentioned they may be asked to reschedule and return at a later stage or referred to a different therapist.

Refund/ exchanges:


Refunds are not permitted due to change of mind on products purchased however faulty (by manufacturer) products are entitled to a refund at the discretion of the therapist.

Refunds for appointments with Therapist/s are not given, however, a gift voucher for the corresponding amount may be provided in extenuating circumstances.

Refunds on gift vouchers are only issued back to the original purchaser within the expiry time on the gift voucher.


Gift Vouchers:


Gift vouchers are given a 3 year expiration period of use. Gift vouchers are not redeemable for cash and the full amount can only be used for treatments or products with no remaining amount to be returned in exchange for cash.

Gift vouchers are transferable however treatment may be refused to the bearer based on health conditions that are contradictory to massage treatment at the discretion of the Therapist. In the case that the bearer is unable to receive treatment based on health conditions a refund will be offered.


Refunds are not available on gift vouchers won as part of raffles, competitions or general community fundraising and moneys will only be refunded to the original purchaser of a gift voucher in circumstances when the gift is not wanted/ usable.

Booking/ cancellation:

Please do not attend your booking more than 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time.

Unified Bodyworks Therapists respect that clients may have circumstances beyond their control that require a booking to be cancelled or changed.

Same-day cancellations (after 12 am the day of the booking) will be invoiced 50% of the total treatment fee. No-shows will be invoiced 100% of the treatment cost. Outstanding invoices must be paid before any future treatments can be booked.

Equally, Therapists will endeavor to give at least 24 hours notice when cancelling an appointment and this action will only be taken as a course of last resort in the event of illness or personal emergency.


Client privacy and health records:

In accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles 2014 (Privacy Act 1988), the Personally Controlled Electronic Health Records Act 2012 and the Freedom of Information Act 1982, individuals have a right of access to health information held about themselves.

Should a client’s records be required by legal authority, the client should be aware that their Therapist must disclose any and all treatment notes and client health forms relating to treatments performed as requested.

Treatment terms and conditions:

  • The Therapist is required by law to take a health history prior to any Remedial, Relaxation, Pregnancy or Hot Stone treatment (not including seated massage, for which health history and consent is verbal and implied at the time of interaction)

  • If the client feels any pain or discomfort during treatment, they must disclose this to the Therapist so the treatment pressure and style can be adjusted.

  • The client understands that massage should not be construed as a substitute for medical examination, diagnosis, or treatment and that help should be sought from a physician, physiotherapist, chiropractor or other qualified medical specialist for any mental or physical ailment that is beyond the scope of the Therapists practice.

  • Therapists are not qualified to perform spinal or skeletal adjustments, diagnose, prescribe, or treat any physical or mental illness, and that nothing said in the course of the session should be construed as such.

  • Massage should not be performed under certain medical conditions. The client affirms that they have stated all known medical conditions, and answered all questions honestly and agree to keep the Therapist updated as to any changes in medical profile and understand that there shall be no liability on the Therapist’s part if they fail to do so.

  • When providing an in-home treatment, clients are required to have a clean tidy environment of 5 square metres (2.5 x 2 metres) free of obstruction for table set up. Children and pets are not permitted in this space unless previously discussed with the Therapist.

  • Clients under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent during treatment and written consent is required.

  • Clients who are dissatisfied with treatment are urged to discuss this with the Therapist during the session and may terminate the treatment at any time.

  • The client is aware that the Therapist provides a non-sexual service, and any request for a sexual service or action perceived by the Therapist as sexual in nature will result in immediate termination of the service. Full payment of service is still required.
